Case summary

The ROD Amendment for the OU 08 Site LF013 addresses impacts to shallow groundwater from benzene and chlorobenzene releases. The selected remedies include 1.) Injection of powdered activated carbon (PAC) as an aerobic enhanced in situ bioremediation (EIB) of groundwater, 2.) the continuation of monitored natural attenuation (MNA) of groundwater, and 3.) Land Use Controls (LUCs) to prohibit potable usage of shallow groundwater. The Remedial Action Objectives (RAOs) are 1.) Prevent potential human exposure to inhalation of vapors and ingestion of contaminated groundwater in a residential use scenario, 2.) reduce concentrations of COCs in groundwater to below the quantitative groundwater RAOs, 3.) restrict land use to industrial use until risks from exposure to groundwater at the site allow for UU/UE, and 4.) prevent potential human exposure to contaminants present in indoor air as a result of vapor intrusion.
