Case summary

This Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent provides for the performance of a Targeted Remedial Investigation and Focused Feasibility Study (TRI/FFS) and related baseline sampling for Operable Unit 2 (OU2) of the Lower Hackensack River Superfund Site (the ?Site), located in Bergen and Hudson Counties, New Jersey. The Site is comprised of the lower portion of the Hackensack River, which spans approximately 22 river miles from south of the Oradell Dam to near Newark Bay in Bergen and Hudson Counties, New Jersey. The TRI/FFS, as well as associated sitewide sampling to identify the Site?s current baseline conditions, will be conducted under EPA?s oversight by the Respondents. Under the Order, the parties will reimburse EPA for its future oversight costs for the TRI/FFS and sitewide sampling work. The estimated cost of the TRI/FFS and sitewide sampling work is $30,000,000.
