Case summary
The Order directs the Respondent to implement remedial action, operation & maintenance, and monitoring of the remedy selected in the March 2013 Record of Decision (ROD) for Operable Unit (OU) 1 and in the September 30, 2019 ROD for OU 2 at the Site. Under the Order, the Respondent is directed to undertake the groundwater remedies for the three areas of the Site, Areas 1, 2, and 3, which contain an approximately 7 mile-long contaminant plume. Respondent completed the remedial design of these components under a prior administrative consent order. The work in the Order is valued at approximately $4,300,000. On September 22, 2023, a letter agreement was signed between EPA and the Respondent in which the Respondent agrees to pay EPA oversight costs associated with the Cayuga County Groundwater Contamination Site remedy for Areas 1-3, which work is being performed under Administrative Order for Remedial Action, Index No. CERCLA-02-2022-2011 (UAO).
