Case summary

On September 9, 2021, Region 2 issued Administrative Order for Remedial Design/Remedial Action (RD/RA), Index No. CERCLA-02-2021-2046, which directs the Respondent to implement the RD/RA for a portion of the Cabo Rojo Groundwater Contamination Superfund Site that EPA has designated as Plume 2. The Respondent, owner and operator of a commercial/industrial facility is directed to perform the Plume 2 work, as selected as part of a May 9, 2019 Record of Decision for the Site. The value of the Plume 2 remedy is approximately $695,000 and includes activities related to monitoring and institutional controls. The Respondent previously expressed a willingness to undertake the work pursuant to such an Order; EPA will work cooperatively with the Respondent to advance the work. The Respondent confirmed its notice of intent to comply with the Order on September 20, 2021.
