On May 17, 2021, Region 2 entered into an Administrative Order and Settlement Agreement under CERCLA with seven Respondents, including two redevelopment entities, for the upgrade of a section of aging bulkhead at four adjoining properties at the Gowanus Canal Superfund Site in Brooklyn, New York. This is one in a series of new bulkheads needed to provide structural support for the dredging and capping of the Canal, which began in November 2020 and is ongoing.
