Case summary
Respondent operates a scrap and waste material wholesale facility. On April 3, 2019, EPA conducted an inspection and identified violations of the Facility?s NJPDES Basic Industrial Stormwater Permit (Permit), including an inadequate and outdated Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) and failure to eliminate the exposure of source materials and/or industrial activities to stormwater discharges, as required by the Permit. Stormwater discharges from the Facility flow to the Ambrose Brook, a tributary to the Raritan River. This Order serves to require the Facility to comply with the requirements of the Permit.
