Case summary

Respondent failed to: (1) make hazardous wastes determinations for the waste streams found in a number of laboratories at its buildings, and (2) maintain and operate a number of its laboratories to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents to air which could threaten human health or the environment. Pursuant to the order, the Respondent will pay a cash penalty, has certified its current compliance with the RCRA regulations, and is required to comply with applicable hazardous waste rules. In addition, the Respondent will undertake, as a Supplemental Environmental Project, to purchase, install and thereafter utilize for at least three years, a web-based hazardous material computerized inventory system to facilitate the tracking of inventory across the facility.
