Case summary

On February 23, 2016, EPA conducted a Compliance Evaluation Inspection (CEI) of the facility located at 557 Wilson Avenue in Newark, NJ. As a result of the CEI, EPA identified that the Respondent was not complying with certain terms and conditions of the NJDEP NJPDES Vehicle Recycling Industrial Stormwater General Permit (RVR General Permit).Violations include: Inadequate SPPP, failure to conduct Fluid Draining and Dismantling in a covered/bermed area, failure to store motor vehicle fluids indoors or on a bermed, impervious surface under cover and failure to retain required records. On March 30, 2016, EPA issued Respondent a Request for Information with submissions due on April 11, 2016, May 4, 2016 and June 3, 2016. EPA transmitted an Overdue Notice to Respondent on May 26, 2015 but the EPA has received none of the requested information to date. An Administrative Compliance Order is being issued to order the Respondent to comply with the RVR General Permit conditions.
