Case summary

The Defendant will perform response actions at the American Cyanamid Superfund Site located in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. The terms of the consent decree require the Defendant to conduct a remedial action pursuant to a 2012 ROD at a cost of approximately $193.5 million, complete a previous remedial action from a 1996 ROD as modified by a 1998 ESD at a cost of approximately $1 million, reimburse $1 million of EPA past costs, and pay for all future EPA oversight costs incurred in overseeing the work. The consent decree will also supersede a removal action Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent (entered into in 2011 to mitigate contaminated ground water from seeping into the Raritan River from the Site).
