EPA v. Robertaccio Funeral Home, Inc.
Unilateral Administrative Order Without Adjudication
Case summary
The facility has an on-site large capacity cesspool which received embalming fluids until March, 2006, when the facility implemented the hold-and-haul medical waste box/waterless aspirator. At the time of the inspection, the facility had not sampled the cesspool to determine whether residual contamination is present. The EPA requests that the facility provide a closure plan to sample and remediate, as necessary. The facility is required to install a septic system for the injection of sanitary waste, only, or connect to the municipal sewer system.
