Case summary
EPA is seeking to begin negotiations with the PRPs for them to perform the remedial design/remedial action at the Site and to pay EPA's past response costs. Addendum to pre-referral sent to DOJ on May 2, 2011. The United States, on behalf of EPA and 19 federal departments and agencies which are PRPS, entered into a consent decree with 52 private party PRPs for performance of the remedial action at the Mercury Refining Superfund Site and payment of certain response costs. Five of the Settling Defendants will perform the work, 46 Settling Defendants and the Federal PRPs will contribute funds to the parties performing the work, and the Owner Settling Defendant will perform certain functions related to the property.
