EPA v. Mcguire Air Force Base

Case summary

This UST Complaint is issued to three respondents, the U.S. Air Force McGuire Air Force Base (AFB); the Army and Air Force Exchange Service; and the New Jersey Air National Guard. The Complaint includes a proposed penalty of $259,189 for seven counts of non-compliance with UST requirements for corrosion protection, overfill prevention, release detection, and closure. The violations were identified at the facility during two UST inspections conducted Nov. 21-22, 2002, and Dec. 18-19, 2002. Additional information was obtained from the U.S. Air Force's response to a Notice of Violation/ 9005 Information Request Letter sent to the facility in April 2003. At the time of the 2002 inspections McGuire AFB owned 20 federally-regulated UST systems.
