Case summary
'Field Citation II-UST-FC-394, in the amount of $3,600, was issued for the following violations: 280.21(a) failure to upgrade substandard USTs by the required deadline; 280.31(b) failure to ensure proper operation of cathodic protection system; and 280.40(a) failure to provide release detection. The facility owner paid the penalty and submitted doucmentation demonstrating that the CP system has been tested and is working properly, and that inventory control is being conducted as per the regulatory requirements. In response to the EPA inspection the facility also paid a contractor to conduct an inspection of the UST equipment and repair damaged equipment.
