Case summary

'EPA has found that the PRASA has discharged/bypassed wastewater and motor oil (hydraulic oil) through a point source into waters of the United States. The point source, which is an appurtenance of the Lares Wastewater Treatment Plant, is identified as the Montebello Ejectors Station. The wastewater bypasses and oil spills have resulted due tot he lack of appropriate operation and maintenance of the ejectors station. As a measure of improving the operation of the station, PRASA/CAPR must evaluate the capacity of the ejectors to handle the incoming sewage flow. Also, PRASA/CAPR must fix or replace the available compressors to ensure pumping capacity at the ejectors station at all times.'
