Case summary
'1) Groundwater contamination at the site requires a remedial response action. The 1994 Record of Decision selected a pump and treat remedy which has yet to be implemented. EPA has spent money in responding to the release and/or threatened release of hazardous substances at the site. 2) EPA seeks the implementation fo the selected remedy and the recovery of its past costs from Alliant technology inc. via a judicial consent decree. The Radiation Technology Inc. Site is located in the Rockaway Twp., NJ (02-X5). Defendant, Alliant Techsystems Inc., will conduct the RD/RA for the groundwater remedy that was seleted in a record of decision issued May 9, 1994. In addition, Alliant Techsystems will pay the sum of $248,866.19 minus the payment of $200,000 that the United States will be reimbursed under the Administrative Agreement with Ion Beam Applications, Inc. and Sterigenics East Corporation, Index number CERCLA-02-2003-2006.
