EPA v. HOME MADE EASY
Case summary
On June 26, 2025, Region 1 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order ( CAFO ) resolving alleged violations of the Toxic Substances Control Act ( TSCA ) and the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule ( RRP Rule ) by Home Made Easy, LLC of Norwalk, Connecticut ( HME ). HME performs residential property renovation services throughout Connecticut, and allegedly violated TSCA and the RRP Rule at four properties built before 1978. Region 1 alleged that Respondent failed to obtain firm certification before performing the renovations; failed to ensure that lead-safe certified renovators performed the renovations; failed to keep necessary records demonstrating compliance with the RRP Rule; and failed to provide the informational Renovate Right pamphlet to property owners and tenants at the four target housing properties. The settlement requires HME to pay a penalty of $9,781 and maintain compliance with the RRP Rule. The state of Connecticut has been notified and supports this action.
