Case summary

On June 17, 2024, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with Charles Drew (d/b/a Drew Auto Parts) of Tilton, New Hampshire resolving violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. On November 7, 2023, the EPA Region 1 (the Region) conducted an inspection of the facility and found that the facility was discharging stormwater from point sources at the site. These discharges were neither authorized by an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit nor the NPDES Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity (MSGP). The company promptly worked towards obtaining MSGP coverage. The settlement requires that the company pay a $7,500 penalty. The Region worked in coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services on this case.
