Case summary
Clean Venture, Inc. (Clean Venture), a subsidiary of Republic Services, Inc., is a New Jersey environmental services company. On or about October 2, 2023, Clean Venture imported, without allowances, a combined total of over 2,000 kg of HFC-134a, R-407C, and R-404A through the port of Wilmington, Delaware. Clean Venture re-exported the HFCs outside of the U.S. and will pay a penalty of $11,663. The re-exportation of illegally imported HFCs resulted in the reduction of 2,973.3 CO2-equivalents. The EAB ratified the ESA on May 2, 2024.
