Case summary
On August 29, 2023, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with McLaughlin Transportation Systems, Inc. ( McLaughlin ) of Nashua, New Hampshire resolving violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. On February 21, 2023, EPA Region 1 (the Region ) conducted an inspection of the facility and found that industrial activity was exposed to stormwater at the site. Stormwater discharges form the site were neither authorized by an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System ( NPDES ) permit nor the NPDES Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity ( MSGP ). The company promptly worked towards obtaining MSGP coverage. The settlement requires that the company pay a $7,500 penalty.
