Case summary

On July 12, 2022, Region 1 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) S 112(r) General Duty Clause and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting requirements by Greenfield Global USA, Inc. at its Brookfield, Connecticut facility. Under the CAFO, Greenfield Global will pay a penalty of $179,596 to settle EPA's claims. Issues at the chemical repackaging and storage facility were identified during an EPA inspection and subsequent TRI audit. The alleged violations included improper storage of incompatible chemicals, inaccessible safety showers, missing informational and warning labels, and late TRI reporting for several chemicals.
