Case summary
On February 16, 2022, EPA issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Order (AO) to the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (UMASS-Dartmouth) for its failure to submit its annual Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) report to EPA by September 28, 2021. Each MS4 municipality covered by the 2016 MS4 Permit in Massachusetts is required to submit an annual report to EPA. The AO requires UMASS-Dartmouth to submit its report within 30 days along with a self-assessment of compliance. Region 1 implements the NPDES program in Massachusetts and issued the 2016 MS4 Permit in Massachusetts. EPA has coordinated with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this matter.
