EPA v. NEW ENGLAND WIRE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION

Case summary

On January 24, 2022, EPA filed an expedited settlement agreement (Agreement) entered into with New England Wire Technologies Corporation of Lisbon, New Hampshire, addressing violations of the Oil Pollution Prevention regulations, promulgated under Section 311(j) of the Clean Water Act. On September 22, 2021, EPA conducted a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspection at the company's facility and observed that the facility did not have an SPCC plan despite having over 19,000 gallons of above-ground oil storage capacity. The company promptly prepared an SPCC plan. Pursuant to the Agreement, New England Wire Technologies Corporation will pay a $10,300 penalty. The SPCC Program is a direct implementation program; however, the Region shares copies of all expedited settlements with the state and Coast Guard.
