Case summary

On September 10, 2020, Region 1 and The J. J. Ryan Corporation, d/b/a Rex Forge, (J. J. Ryan) settled an administrative penalty case for alleged violations of EPCRA and EPCRA regulations that occurred at J. J. Ryan's metal hardware manufacturing facility in Plantsville, Connecticut. EPA alleged that J. J. Ryan failed to timely file EPCRA Section 313 TRI reports for chromium, manganese and ethylene glycol that were processed or otherwise used at the J. J. Ryan facility during calendar year 2018. J. J. Ryan filed its missing TRI reports in December 2019. EPA and J. J. Ryan settled the case with a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) that both initiated and concluded the action. Under the CAFO, J. J. Ryan agreed to pay a settlement penalty of $33,371.
