Case summary
On June 11, 2019, Region 1 filed an expedited settlement agreement with Colt Manufacturing Company, LLC of West Hartford, Connecticut resolving violations of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. In November 2018, 3,300-gallons of waste oil, generated from metal cutting and machining operations, spilled from a leaking pipe to the ground and surrounding area. Some of the oil flowed to a storm drain which discharged to an unnamed stream located next to the facility and then flowed to Trout Brook. The company responded promptly to the spill and undertook cleanup responsibilities. The company has agreed to a $2,500 penalty.
