On December 20, 2018, Region 1 filed a consent agreement and final order (CAFO) resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by Martha's Vineyard Shipyard, Inc. (MV Shipyard). MV Shipyard operates a boat storage and repair yard located in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. MV Shipyard discharged stormwater associated with industrial activity not in compliance with the terms and conditions of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Additionally, MV Shipyard failed to develop and implement a spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plan. The company has come into compliance with the CWA and has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $26,526 to resolve the violations. The case team notified the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of the conclusion of this matter.
