Case summary

On July 6, 2018, Region 1 issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Order (AO) to the Town of Greenville, NH to address violations of its NPDES permit at its wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). In part, the AO establishes interim effluent limits for total recoverable copper and aluminum and requires the completion of a two-month ferric chloride pilot and the submission of a report summarizing the results of the full-scale testing of chemical combinations to optimize Greenville?s WWTF performance to achieve compliance with the NPDES permit. The schedule for corrective action will be incorporated into the AO as approved and amended by EPA. The State of New Hampshire has not been delegated the NPDES program but worked in close coordination with EPA in this matter Respondent is required to implement actions recommended by its consultant to achieve NPDES permit compliance
