Case summary

On June 18, 2018, the Region issued a Findings of Violation and Order for Compliance (AO) to Certainteed Corporation/Bird, Inc. to resolve ongoing total suspended solids violations of its NPDES permit. The facility, which manufactures roof shingles in Norwood, MA, had been in significant non-compliance for several of the past quarters due to these exceedances. The Region has ordered the facility to submit a plan with a schedule for addressing these violations and to implement it. The Region worked in close coordination with MassDEP in this matter.
