Case summary

On October 20, 2017, the Region signed an Administrative Order on Consent (Order) with the Borough of Naugatuck, Connecticut. The Order addresses the Borough?s unauthorized discharges of sewage from its sanitary sewer collection system to waters of the United States. To minimize the occurrence of these sanitary sewer overflows, the Order requires the Borough to develop updated Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance program documents, submit the documents to EPA and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) for comment, and implement the plans contained in these documents. The Region worked in close coordination with the CT DEEP in this matter.
