EPA v. REED & BARTON

Case summary

08/16/2018: On August 13, 2018, a U.S. Magistrate Judge signed an ex parte administrative warrant granting EPA access to the Reed & Barton Removal Site property in Norton, Massachusetts. This warrant was necessary because the Agency had been unable to locate a person authorized to provide access to the Site, which is owned by a bankrupt company. EPA requested access to perform a removal action to address, among other things, soils and sediments contaminated with lead, arsenic, volatile organic compounds, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. EPA has been working closely with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on this planned removal action. Provide Site Access to perform a removal action under CERCLA 104(e).
