Case summary

On March 3, 2016, EPA Region 1 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) both initiating and resolving violations of the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule alleged against VB Home Improvement, LLC (VB Home Improvement), a home renovation and painting company (Docket No. TSCA-01-2015-0046). The settlement alleges two violations of the RRP Rule that occurred while VB Home Improvement was painting a house in New Haven, CT. This case resulted from an enforcement and compliance assistance initiative conducted in New Haven in June 2014 by the Region 1 lead program. As the result of the initiative, there has been a significant increase in the number renovation firms applying for and receiving firm certification in the New Haven, CT area. According to the terms of the settlement, VB Home Improvement will pay a $730 penalty.
