Case summary
On February 11, 2016, EPA signed a Cost Recovery Settlement Agreement to resolve civil liability claims with the Town of Athol, Massachusetts ( the Town ) under Section 107 of CERCLA. Under the 122(h) Settlement Agreement, the Town agrees to pay EPA $275,000, plus interest running from the Effective Date through the date of payment, to settle EPA's past Site response costs of $3,434,307.47. After the Department of Justice signs the Settlement Agreement, it will be published in the Federal Register with a 30-day public comment period.
