Region 1 referred to the US Department of Justice a request to seek an ex parte application for an administrative warrant for access to property located off Carrington Street in Lincoln, Rhode Island (Londsdale Bleachery) for the purpose of investigating an ongoing discharge of oil from the Site into the Blackstone River. The Lonsdale Bleachery is a vacant lot located in an industrial complex along the Blackstone River. The Region?s Office of Site Remediation and Restoration (OSRR) requires access to the site in order to conduct further investigations involving soil borings and site characterization and, depending on findings of these investigations, remedial work to prevent additional discharges of oil. The investigations and remedial activities are being conducted under authority of the Clean Water Act. Region 1?s Office of Environmental Stewardship (OES) is providing legal support to OSRR to obtain access to the Site.
