EPA is issuing an Administrative Order (AO) to Cherenzia Excavation Inc. requiring the facility to conduct, at both its locations in Westerly RI, EPA Reference Method 9 visible emission testing for affected equipment (e.g. crushers, screeners, and associated conveyor belts) and to submit the final reports to EPA. In addition, the AO requires the facility to do the following in regards to its diesel engines located at both facilities: submit initial notifications to EPA, conduct initial performance testing and/or initial compliance demonstrations, submit notifications of compliance status to EPA, retrofit the engines with open crankcase emission control filtration systems, and submit semiannual compliance reports to EPA.
