EPA v. AMERIPRIDE SERVICES INC - WORCESTER
Final Order With Penalty
Case summary
AmeriPride operates an industrial laundry facility in Worcester, MA that, among other things, formerly landered towels used by the print industry and machine shops. These towels can be soiled with various solvents that can emit volatile orgarnic compounds (VOCs) during the laundering process. As a result of an EPA inspection and AmeriPrides response to a CAA reporting requirement and other information gathered after the inspection, Region 1 determined that, due to the potential emissions of VOCs from the facility, AmeriPride had violated the Massachusetts New Source Review program requirements as well as Title V permitting requirements. After a period of negotiations, AmeriPride agreed to pay $37,500 penalty for the alleged violations at the facility.
