Case summary

Northeastern Shaped Wire draws or rolls wire tocreate shaped coil or other types if wire in the Southington, Connecticut facility. An October 2, 2012 inspection revealed that the company violated EPCRA by failing to timely submit Form Rs for ammonia, copper, nickel, and chromium. The parties reached an agreement and signed a Consent Agreement and Final Order ( CAFO ) that required the company to pay a cash penalty of $5,636 and to complete a Supplemental Environmental Project ( SEP ) to resolve the alledged violations. In order to complete the SEP, the company will purchase and install a state-of-the-art fixed ammonia detection and alarm system at the Facility and operate it for at least three years; and (2) purchase a handheld ammonia detection system.
