Case summary
On November 8, 2012, Region 1 filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (Docket No. CWA-01-2013-0002) whereby Maine Potato Growers, Inc. has agreed to pay a $3,000 penalty for having failed to fully implement its Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure plan at one of its Presque Isle, Maine, facilities. The company has also signed an Administrative Order on Consent (Docket No. CWA-13-002) under Sections 311(c) and (e) of the CWA in which it has agreed to bring its tank farm and lubricant sales facility into full compliance with the Oil Pollution Prevention regulations by July 1, 2013. Region 1 worked in close coordination with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection in this matter.
