Case summary
In July 2012, EPA Region I issued two Immediate Compliance Orders under Section 113(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act. In each case the Respondents were cited under the Asbestos NESHAP for failing to provide EPA with proper notification of a demolition or renovation operation. Sam St. John Trust of Brattleboro, Vermont was cited for failing to thoroughly inspect the affected facility for the presence of asbestos, and failing to provide EPA with notification at least ten days before demolition work began at 53 East Main Street in Wilmington, Vermont (issued July 11, 2012). The orders require each Respondent to immediately comply with the Asbestos NESHAP
