EPA v. BOSTIK
Final Order No Penalty
Case summary
Bostik has burned a liquid hazardous waste in its Struthers Wells boiler since 1988. Comprehensive performance testing was conducted in June 2008, March 2009 (for a subset of parameters) and June 2010 (for VOST only). The Administrative order finds that Bostik has not demonstrated compliance with 40 CFR Part 63 Subpart EEE, and orders Bostik to conduct a comprehensive performance test and dioxin/furan testing. Bostik experienced an explosion at their facilty in March 2011, and the facility had discontinued manufacturing operations at that time, with the intention to restart manufacturing in November 2011.
