Case summary
On June 9, 2011, Region I entered into an expedited settlement agreement with Entoleter, LLC (Entoleter) of Hampden, Connecticut that addresses a violation of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. In October 2010, a third party discovered a release of fuel oil into a wetlands area adjacent to Entoleters facility. According to Entoleter, oil may have been released from the facility for approximately 60 years through a floor drain located in the facilitys boiler room. Entoleter has operated its business at the facility since 2002. Pursuant to the agreement, Entoleter paid a $10,000 penalty.
