GenOn owns and operates a power station discharging heat to the Lower Charles River Basin. The discharge causes excessive temperatures in the receiving water during the summer. The Order requires that the facility reduce its discharge of heat by diverting waste steam to a commercial distribution system across the river in Boston, and installing an air-cooled condenser for the remaining steam.
