On August 10, 2011, Region I issued a Clean Air Act administrative order to Hampford Research (Hampford) of Stratford, Connecticut for violating the national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants for chemical manufacturing area sources at 40 CFR Part 63, Subpart VVVVVV (Subpart 6V). Hampford is a custom manufacturer of electronics and dental chemical additives, specialty monomers, photo-initiators, and other specialty organic chemicals. Based on Hampfords emissions of methylene chloride and its area source status, Subpart 6V applies to the facility. The company violated Subpart 6V when it failed to submit an initial notification by February 26, 2011.
