Case summary
As a result of information provided by Masonicare and CT DEP, EPA has determined that Masonicare violated Section 15 of TSCA and the PCB regulations at 40 C.F.R. Part 761 by improperly disposing of PCBs from two PCB transformers through spilling/leakage of PCB transformer oil onto the transformer cabinets, the concrete pads on which the transformers stood, and the nearby ground. Also, Masonicare failed to properly label both PCB transformers with the ML mark and failed to register both PCB transformers with EPA within 30 days after the PCB transformers were identified as such.
