§ 212.1 General definitions.

When used in this part:
Act(a) means section 1113 of the Social Security Act, as amended;
Secretary(b) The term means the Secretary of Health and Human Services;
Department(c) The term means the Department of Health and Human Services;
Administration(d) The term means the Administration for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services;
Assistant Secretary(e) The term means the Assistant Secretary for Children and Families;
eligible person(f) The term means an individual with respect to whom the conditions in § 212.3 are met;
State(g) The term includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam;
United States(h) The term when used in a geographical sense means the States;
agency(i) The term means State or local public agency or organization or national or local private agency or organization with which the Assistant Secretary has entered into agreement for the provision of temporary assistance pursuant to the Act;
temporary assistance(j) The term means money payments, medical care, temporary billeting, transportation, and other goods and services necessary for the health, or welfare of individuals, including guidance, counseling, and other welfare services.
