§ 520.23 Acepromazine.

Specifications.(a) Each tablet contains 10 or 25 milligrams (mg) acepromazine maleate.

Sponsors.(b) See Nos. 000010 and 086117 in § 510.600(c) of this chapter.

Conditions of useDogsAmount.(c) —(1) —(i) 0.25 to 1.0 mg per pound (/lb) body weight orally.

Indications for use.(ii) As an aid in tranquilization and as a preanesthetic agent.

Limitations.(iii) Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

CatsAmount.(2) —(i) 0.5 to 1.0 mg/lb body weight orally.

Indications for use.(ii) As a tranquilizer.

Limitations.(iii) Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
