Syllabus

<p>Evidence—Lbs Insurance—Preliminary Proofs of Death—Verdict of Coroner’s Jury.—In an action upon a life insurance policy, the plaintiff gave in evidence the record of the proceedings of a coroner’s jury, for the sole purpose of showing a compliance with the requirements of the policy as to preliminary proofs of death. That jury, by its verdict, had found that the deceased committed suicide. Held, that this was prima faeie evidence of the manner and cause of the death of the insured, and that the effect of the proceedings was not limited to the purpose for which they were given in evidence.</p>
