Syllabus
<p>1. New Trial — Lord Campbell's Act — A Circuit Judge may grant a new trial nisi, under Lord-Campbell’s Act, where he thinks the jury has given excessive damages.</p> <p>2. Ibid. — Such power is not limited to cases in which jury acted from improper motives.</p> <p>3. Ibid. — Discretion.—Reduction of verdict for damages by two-thirds, in order for new trial nisi, sustained by this Court because it cannot disturb the discretion of Circuit Judge in such matters.</p>
