<p>Practice at Common Law&emdash;Default&emdash;Substituted ser-vice&emdash;Defective return&emdash;Amendment.&emdash;Where under Code 1873, ch. 172, § 5, defendant moves the judge in vacation to reverse a judgment by default upon a defective return of substituted service of the summons, and to remand the case for trial&emdash;</p> <p>Held :</p> <p>The court may then allow the sheriff to amend his return so as to show a proper service, and dismiss the defendant’s motion.</p>
