Syllabus

1. A district court's determination that a criminal defendant validly waived the constitutional right to counsel is reviewed de novo, but the factual findings underlying this determination are reviewed for clear error. 2. The district court did not err when it determined that appellant's initial waiver of his right to counsel was valid. 3. The district court did not err when it determined that appellant validly renewed the waiver of his right to counsel after the grand jury indicted him for first-degree domestic abuse murder. Affirmed.
