Syllabus

<p>1. Tlie constitution of this states (Art. IV., I 2,) provides that a chief justice and two associate justices shall be elected for the term of six years, to be so classified that one of the justices shall go out of office every two years. Held, that a chief justice elected to supply a vacancy caused by the death of his predecessor was entitled to hold the office only for the remainder of the term of such predecessor, and not for the full term of six years.</p> <p>2.
