Syllabus
<p>Brokers—Duties and Liabilities to Principal—Performance of Agreement—Negligence. Where a customs broker was designated in a local bill of lading as consignee of a shipment of beer, and authorized to procure its clearance and foreign transshipment, hut, owing to the seizure and subsequent destruction of the beer by the public authorities he never had possession nor control of the goods, he could not he held liable for the loss of the goods as a bailee for hire under the doctrine of constructive bailment.</p>
